N-dealkylation, a primary biotransformation pathway, produces metabolites such as monoethylglycinexylidide and glycinexylidide. These metabolites exhibit pharmacological/toxicological actions akin to, though milder than, Lidocaine Hydrochloride. Around 90% of the administered Lidocaine Hydrochloride is excreted as various metabolites, with under 10% excreted unchanged. The major urinary metabolite is a conjugate of 4-hydroxy-2,6-dimethylaniline.
