Several clinical studies have confirmed the dramatic effect of GHK-Cu in improving the appearance of aging skin. Applying creams and eye creams containing GHK-Cu to the face and periocular area increases skin density and thickness, reduces sagging and fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin clarity and overall appearance. Compared to vitamin C creams and retinoids, GHK-Cu performs better in stimulating collagen production. In addition, GHK-Cu strongly stimulated the proliferation of dermal keratin-forming cells, further improving skin quality.
A pilot study by Krüger et al. demonstrated that copper tripeptide complexes, including GHK-Cu, increased skin thickness, improved skin moisturisation, resulted in smoother, more elastic skin and significantly increased type I collagen production.
GHK-Cu has also been shown to increase elastin and collagen production and reduce wrinkle volume and depth in cellular experiments and randomised double-blind clinical trials. Compared to the commercially available peptide Matrixyl ® 3000, GHK-Cu has been shown to be more effective in reducing wrinkles. These findings suggest that GHK-Cu is an effective anti-aging ingredient that warrants widespread use in skin care products.
